Why should I get a CCW License if we can Open Carry in Florida?
Without a FL CCW License, you are not permitted to conceal carry in any other state.
A FL CCW License allows you to skip the 3 day wait when purchasing a firearm.
Without a FL CCW License, you may not conceal carry nor open carry within a 1000 feet of a public, private or church school. This a federal offense.
As of this posting on 06/27/2026, Open carry laws have not been set. Any police agency can enforce their own set of rules as they see fit. Some do not allow open carry at all. You can fight an offense in court but you will still be ticketed and jailed. That offense will will remain your record even if you get it over turned unless you pay to have it expunged.
Do I have to be a Florida Resident or a US Citizen to apply for a CCW Permit?
No. You must be a Citizen of the United States or a Permanent Resident Alien and must currently reside in this country.
What is the Application Fee for the Florida CCW permit?
The total fee for the License is 97.00. It consist of 2 fees:
1. License fee of 55.00
2. Fingerprint processing fee 42.00
This does not include any class fees required for the license.
How long is the CCW course?
The course is about 3 hours. The length of this course depends on the knowledge level of the students in the class. If a lot of students are new to firearms it may take longer.
Do I have to shoot a firearm for the CCW course?
Yes there is live fire in this course. We supply the firearm and the bullets. Please do not bring a firearm to class.
How long does it take to get the CCW permit after my application has been submitted?
Once the Division of Licensing has your complete application, it will take about 90 days for the Division to process it and notify you of the outcome. Processing may take longer than 90 days if additional information regarding criminal records must be obtained.
